Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Semiconductor sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.67% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sintronic Tech (TW:3536), which rose 10.00% or 0.83 points to trade at 9.13 at the close. Meanwhile, Hota Ind (TW:1536) added 10.00% or 14.00 points to end at 154.00 and Microtek Intl (TW:2305) was up 9.97% or 0.64 points to 7.06 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were J Touch (TW:3584), which fell 9.85% or 0.33 points to trade at 3.02 at the close. Candmark (TW:5259) declined 9.85% or 0.52 points to end at 4.76 and Shuttle (TW:2405) was down 8.06% or 0.85 points to 9.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 539 to 247 and 70 ended unchanged.
Shares in J Touch (TW:3584) fell to all time lows; losing 9.85% or 0.33 to 3.02. Shares in Hota Ind (TW:1536) rose to all time highs; gaining 10.00% or 14.00 to 154.00. Shares in Candmark (TW:5259) fell to all time lows; falling 9.85% or 0.52 to 4.76.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.45% or 0.88 to $36.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.43% or 0.54 to hit $38.41 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.08% or 1.00 to trade at $1228.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.29% to 32.466, while TWD/CNY fell 0.20% to 0.1998.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 94.81.
