Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Glass, Iron & Steel and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.60%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Arcadyan Tech (TW:3596), which rose 9.93% or 4.50 points to trade at 49.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Ahoku Eltr (TW:3002) added 9.90% or 1.00 points to end at 11.10 and Shuttle (TW:2405) was up 9.86% or 1.05 points to 11.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.79% or 0.42 points to trade at 3.87 at the close. Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) declined 9.36% or 0.51 points to end at 4.94 and Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) was down 8.40% or 0.21 points to 2.29.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 417 to 320 and 113 ended unchanged.
Shares in Candmark (TW:5259) fell to all time lows; falling 9.79% or 0.42 to 3.87. Shares in Shuttle (TW:2405) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.86% or 1.05 to 11.70.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.99% or 0.74 to $38.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.37% or 0.54 to hit $39.97 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.20 to trade at $1236.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.16% to 32.446, while TWD/CNY rose 0.20% to 0.2001.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 94.59.
