Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Iron & Steel, Computers & Peripherals and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.18% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Maxtek Tech (TW:3315), which rose 10.00% or 1.70 points to trade at 18.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Tung Ho (TW:1414) added 9.85% or 0.59 points to end at 6.58 and Tainan Spinnin (TW:1440) was up 9.80% or 1.20 points to 13.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sintronic Tech (TW:3536), which fell 9.74% or 1.50 points to trade at 13.90 at the close. Aoc (TW:6289) declined 6.25% or 0.080 points to end at 1.200 and Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) was down 6.09% or 0.28 points to 4.32.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 507 to 248 and 97 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.05% or 0.49 to $46.31 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.22% or 0.59 to hit $47.88 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.49% or 6.55 to trade at $1341.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.11% to 32.177, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2075.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 96.42.
