Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Cement and Other Electronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.21% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tidehold Devl (TW:9902), which rose 9.91% or 0.92 points to trade at 10.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Precision (TW:3016) added 9.88% or 1.60 points to end at 17.80 and Hiwin (TW:2049) was up 9.73% or 12.50 points to 141.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Transasia (TW:6702), which fell 9.85% or 0.20 points to trade at 1.83 at the close. Hannstar Board (TW:5469) declined 6.82% or 1.35 points to end at 18.45 and Genius (TW:3406) was down 5.60% or 5.40 points to 91.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 494 to 274 and 108 ended unchanged.
Shares in Transasia (TW:6702) fell to all time lows; falling 9.85% or 0.20 to 1.83.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.10% or 0.05 to $49.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $52.90 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.07% or 0.85 to trade at $1178.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.57% to 31.716, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2172.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 100.14.
