Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Paper & Pulp and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Optics Inc (TW:3504), which rose 9.97% or 3.40 points to trade at 37.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) added 9.94% or 2.70 points to end at 29.85 and Kinko Optical Co Ltd (TW:6209) was up 9.89% or 2.60 points to 28.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ichia Technologies Inc (TW:2402), which fell 9.62% or 2.05 points to trade at 19.25 at the close. Golden Bridge Electech Inc (TW:6133) declined 5.96% or 0.65 points to end at 10.25 and Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) was down 5.21% or 0.15 points to 2.73.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 471 to 287 and 117 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) rose to 5-year highs; up 9.94% or 2.70 to 29.85.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.22% or 0.10 to $45.87 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.33% or 0.16 to hit $48.22 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.70 to trade at $1253.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.29% to 30.358, while TWD/CNY fell 0.13% to 0.2227.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 93.81.
