Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 3.47% or 0.61 points to trade at 18.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 3.19% or 1.37 points to end at 44.31 and PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3) was up 2.70% or 0.010 points to 0.380 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which fell 5.23% or 0.34 points to trade at 6.16 at the close. Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) declined 5.12% or 0.71 points to end at 13.17 and CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) was down 4.13% or 0.67 points to 15.56.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 184 to 125 and 8 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.19% to 31.62.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.37% or 4.30 to $1170.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.59% or 0.92 to hit $58.92 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.68% or 0.93 to trade at $134.32 .
USD/BRL was up 0.30% to 3.1511, while EUR/BRL fell 0.83% to 3.5018.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.95% at 96.39.
