Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.33% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which rose 6.72% or 1.150 points to trade at 18.270 at the close. Meanwhile, Bankia (MC:BKIA) added 6.19% or 0.060 points to end at 1.030 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (MC:ICAG) was up 4.11% or 0.213 points to 5.390 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Red Electrica Corporacion SA (MC:REE), which fell 1.74% or 0.305 points to trade at 17.230 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) declined 1.70% or 0.129 points to end at 7.444 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) was down 1.61% or 0.180 points to 10.990.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 94 to 68 and 15 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 3.08% or 35.90 to $1127.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $51.03 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.10 to trade at $54.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.34% to 1.0393, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8376.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.27% at 103.33.
