Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB fell 0.81%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte Paschi Siena (MILAN:BMPS), which fell 1.05% or 0.0065 points to trade at 0.6145 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Popolare Sc (MILAN:BAPO) added 0.14% or 0.0200 points to end at 14.4900 and Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MILAN:PMII) was down 0.73% or 0.0070 points to 0.9520 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which rose 1.15% or 0.11 points to trade at 9.64 at the close. ENI (MILAN:ENI) declined 0.93% or 0.15 points to end at 15.99 and CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI) was down 1.24% or 0.095 points to 7.570.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 281 to 190 and 3 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.95% or 1.40 to $48.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 2.51% or 1.39 to hit $56.49 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.47% or 5.60 to trade at $1197.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.0967, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.7367.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 97.12.
