Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Oil & Gas and Household sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.14% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 15.12% or 0.1300 points to trade at 0.9900 at the close. Meanwhile, Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) added 6.74% or 0.048 points to end at 0.760 and Fourlis Hld (AT:FRLr) was up 4.71% or 0.170 points to 3.780 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which fell 9.72% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.130 at the close. Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) declined 5.56% or 0.1500 points to end at 2.5500 and Halcor (AT:XAKO) was down 4.53% or 0.016 points to 0.337.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 50 to 41 and 18 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.21% or 2.65 to $1253.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.16% or 0.59 to hit $50.20 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.50 to trade at $51.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1009, while EUR/GBP fell 1.12% to 0.9016.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 97.99.
